RADICAL SENATE DEMOCRAT BILL TO GIVE ILLEGALS THE RIGHT TO VOTE, SERVE ON JURIES AND ACCESS TAXPAYER-FUNDED WELFARE BENEFITS WOULD BE DEVASTATING TO HUDSON VALLEY FAMILIES

Statement from 41st Senate District candidate Sue Serino (R,C,I- Hyde Park):

Today’s New York Post cover-story highlights exactly the devastating impact that awaits our community and our state if Terry Gipson and his liberal New York City allies gain control of the Senate this fall. Allowing illegal aliens the right to vote, serve on juries, run for office, access taxpayer-funded welfare benefits, and get professional licenses, like those for doctors and dentists, is outlandish. Coming on the heels of plans earlier this year to use $20 million of our hard-earned tax dollars to send illegal aliens to college and a proposal to spend $272 million to educate violent illegal criminals, including thugs, rapists and drug dealers, this shows a pattern of our middle-class families becoming second-class citizens in our state.

All three of these plans are an insult and a slap in the face to the hardworking families of the Hudson Valley who really need and deserve tax relief and support for their children. I’ve talked to residents across Dutchess and Putnam counties and everywhere I go I hear the same story: “the well is dry.” Our residents can’t afford to pay their property tax bills, cope with the rising cost of energy and send their children to school. Terry Gipson’s sponsorship of a bill to give free tuition to Illegal Aliens, and his support for the Senate Democratic leadership who have put these outrageous proposals forward, shows how out-of-touch with our community he has become. As Senator I will fight vigorously against these proposals and any other proposal that puts our families second to those who broke the laws of our state and nation.
