WAPPINGER, NY—The re-election campaign of Senator Sue Serino today released its second television commercial entitled, ‘Not About the Paycheck’. The thirty-second spot recently began running on cable and sends a clear message—for Senator Serino, the job is never about the paycheck, it is always about the people.

Albany legislators can collect $172 in per-diem payments for each day they spend in the Capitol City. Since taking office last January, Senator Sue Serino has soundly rejected those payments. With some politicians collecting upwards of $20,000 in per-diem payments, it is clear that Senator Serino’s commitment to rejecting the payment represents a significant savings to the taxpayers.

“For me, it’s simple,” said Senator Serino. “Members of this community travel countless miles to get to and from work, and no one is picking up their tab. How can I expect the taxpayers to pick up mine? It’s just not right and that’s why I have never collected a single penny in travel reimbursement or per diem expenses.

Full Transcript: (Serino): You know, the people that are driving back and forth and commuting […] in my area are not getting paid to do so…

…they're paying out of pocket, whether they're paying for the gas for their cars or they're paying for Metro North.

The per diem for New York State government is approximately $170 dollars a day.

I don't take a per diem.

Why would I think that I'm entitled to take a payment when I'm going to do my job?

I didn’t get into doing this for the paycheck. It’s all about helping the people.

(VO) Sue Serino…

…honest leadership fighting for us.
