On Her Decision to Run for the New York State Senate’s 41st District Seat
After careful consideration, I have chosen to forgo a planned race for the State Assembly this November in favor of a run for the New York State Senate’s 41st district seat. Since this decision was made, I have received an outpouring of grassroots support from across the district, particularly from the people of Hyde Park who I proudly represent in the County Legislature. I am confident that as more voters get to know me and my record I will be the obvious choice for State Senate.
We have reached a critical juncture in New York State, especially in Dutchess and Putnam Counties. We need real leaders who are willing to go to Albany and stand up for the values of everyone who lives here. At this time, I believe I can make more of a difference for the residents of the Hudson Valley in the closely-divided State Senate.
The incumbent, Terry Gipson, too often votes with his New York City Democratic colleagues and is out of step with hardworking taxpayers. We need a fresh start.
I believe I can represent the values of Hudson Valley families better than any of the other candidates for this office, including Mr. Gipson. I have consistently stood up for taxpayers and I always will. In the weeks and months ahead, I look forward to a spirited contest on the issues important to middle-class taxpayers and families.
