Statement from County Legislator and 41st Senate District Candidate Sue Serino on Siena College Poll Results
This news is humbling and gratifying. I have worked hard to reach every corner of my district to listen to people's thoughts, concerns, hopes and aspirations, and the outpouring of support has been phenomenal. Everywhere I go, people react enthusiastically to my vision for Dutchess and Putnam Counties. Voters are uncomfortable that Terry Gipson puts his New York City political bosses ahead of the people of the Hudson Valley. People are unhappy with Terry Gipson's devastating cuts to our schools, tax hikes, job losses and plan to give free college tuition to illegal immigrants. Instead, they want a better future for their families. Voters want quality education, meaningful tax relief, a thriving economy, good paying jobs and career opportunities for their children so they can stay here after they graduate. I am going to continue reaching out to people and earn their trust to build momentum for a victory on November 4.Read more

Our local farms ensure that Dutchess and Putnam Counties’ children and families have access to good, healthy, fresh, and safe food on a daily basis.

Statement from County Legislator and 41st state Senate District candidate Sue Serino (R,C,I-Hyde Park):
The MTA Payroll Tax hit businesses and families hard when it was imposed by out-of-touch New York City Democrats in 2009. Since then little has been done to improve accountability for the authority and little of the funding has gone to improve safety for riders, as was highlighted by the recent Blue Ribbon Panel. Despite numerous calls for an audit of their books the Metropolitan Transit Authority continues to take billions annually from local residents and businesses. Unfortunately, instead of putting the brakes on their exorbitant spending Terry Gipson actually voted against the elimination of the tax and continued this irresponsible and poorly managed funding of the authority. We need to fully repeal this oppressive tax and find a way to permanently fund Metro North in an affordable and responsible way.
