Serino Declares Victory on Election Night

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY—Senator Sue Serino (R, C, I—Hyde Park) will continue to serve the people of the 41st Senate District after an impressive and decisive victory on Election Night. From her election night party at Cosimo’s Trattoria in Poughkeepsie, Senator Serino released the following statement:

“Tonight, our community did something truly incredible. In an election year defined by divisive negativity, local voters stood up for local control of our community and got behind a positive campaign. What’s more, we sent a clear message that we stand ready to come together to move our community forward.

I am not only honored to have the opportunity to continue serving the people of our community, I am truly humbled by the overwhelming support my family and I have received throughout this process. I cannot thank our neighbors, supporters and volunteers enough for all that they did to get us over the finish line.

Twenty years ago, when I was a single mom, working three jobs and living pay-check to pay-check, I could never have imagined that I would be standing before you today as your State Senator for the first time, let alone the second. While that time of my life certainly wasn’t easy, it made me a fighter.

Too often, Albany operates in a bubble, but I will never lose sight of where I came from or the experiences that made me who I am and I will continue to fight tirelessly to restore the public’s faith in its government by ensuring that our community remains a constant priority.

For the politicos of the world, this election was a game. But for me—since day one—it has and will continue to be about the people of our community. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for allowing me the honor of continuing to serve.”
