POUGHKEEPSIE, NY—Following last night’s Dutchess County GOP Convention in Poughkeepsie, NYS Senator Sue Serino announced that she has been designated as the Republican candidate for the 41st District.

“I am not only honored to receive the nomination of the parties tonight,” said Senator Serino. “I am truly humbled. We need strong, independent leadership that’s not afraid to stand up for our communities in Albany and I am confident that with the support of dedicated Committee Members and committed local partners, we can move our community forward.”

Nick Dalessandro, East Fishkill Town Board Member, nominated Senator Serino saying, “Senator Serino is a tireless fighter and hard worker. Through her hard work, she has succeeded in achieving the ‘American Dream’ and she genuinely wants to empower others in our community to do the same. She is not only a voice for our community, she is a true partner—she cares more about our community than anyone I know and I am honored to nominate her for re-election to the New York State Senate.”

Bob Monaco, Vice-Chairman of the Town of Poughkeepsie Republican Committee seconded the nomination saying, “As long as I have known Sue Serino, she has always had two jobs—to call her a hard-worker is an understatement. She has never been afraid to fight and stand up for what is right. She has been a tireless advocate for law enforcement and first responders—making combatting the heroin epidemic a priority and advocating for those struggling with mental health issues. I am confident that she will continue to be the partner we need in Albany to ensure that our community is always a priority.”

Karen Hagstrom, Chair of the Red Hook Republican Committee who offered the third nomination said, “I have gotten to know Sue on a more personal level over the last year and I can assure you that her enthusiasm and fighting spirit is as genuine and heartfelt in private as it is in public. She cares about the most vulnerable people in our community –our children, our seniors, those battling drug addiction or those requiring mental health services. She cares deeply about education, reducing taxes and our health. She is undoubtedly the right person to represent our community, and our voice, in the New York State Senate.”

Dutchess County Republican Chairman Michael McCormack and Putnam County Republican Chairman Tony Scannapieco were both present to confirm the Senator’s designation as the candidate for the 41st Senate District.
